HOW TO PROPERLY PAINT THE CEILING?

Most often painting ceilings is not a particularly interesting subject. However, the poorly painted ceiling may spoil the final renovation. What is worse, it cannot be covered by anything or disguised. Amendments are often difficult to implement as we often start renovation by painting ceiling and after we have already painted other areas, painting the ceiling again is likely to lead to splashing the whole room. The well-painted ceiling is the database which will provide a good look inside.

In order to paint the ceiling well, you must pay attention to two factors

1) Design factor

We are accustomed to the fact that the ceilings are white. Indeed, white is the color which reflects the light, optically provides a comfortable feeling of space above the head, makes an impression of cleanliness and emphasizes colors of the wall. That is why the white paint is most commonly chosen when it comes to a ceiling. Sometimes, however, we may go for an unusual solution and paint it with color paint or a broken white. Interestingly painted or adorned with stuccowork ceiling could become an important element of interior design. Color above your head can also improve the balance of the room. It is important, however, to make it a planned element of entire decoration.

2) Technical Factor

Regardless of the fact whether we paint with white or colored paint, the ceiling should be painted perfectly. Here are a few steps that must be carried out to properly paint a ceiling.

- Prepare tools.

Brushes, rollers, tapes, protective films and proper paint will be needed. Remember about the appropriate protective clothing and ladder, too.

- Secure your floor and walls.

All components exposed to splashing should be protected by foil and sealed with tape. Before starting work, you should uninstall or secure lamps. In cases when ceiling will only be painted, you also need to cover the walls. Thanks to proper securing of objects, cleaning up after work is going to be quick and easy.

- Paint!

It is best to start painting the ceiling from corners and hard to reach areas (e.g. around lamps, ledges, stuccowork and ventilation grilles).  We do this with a brush. Other fragments of the even surface should be painted with a roller in parallel stripes. The second layer should be applied by painting perpendicular stripes to the previous ones. It should guarantee a perfectly painted ceiling and there will be no visible streaks.

If after drying, on the ceiling, there are no places which require improvement, you can start cleaning or go to painting walls, which is often the next stage of renovation.

The properly painted ceiling will gladden the eye for a long time and make up an important for design so-called "fifth wall".
